A tree view visually shows the parent-child relationship between items. The tree view is only available on certain items having a parent-child or hierarchical relationship. For example, the Location tree view could show the cities Boston, New York and San Francisco, each having a single building with multiple floors, each floor having multiple rooms, and finally the hardware assets in each room. The following tree views are available:
All Locations: shows all locations, their children and their hardware assets.
All Organizations: shows all organizations, their children and their hardware assets.
All Cost Centers: shows all cost centers, their children and their hardware assets.
All Hardware Assets by Location: shows all locations with hardware assets as their children. Assets that have no location are shown at the top level (at the same level as the locations).
Software Overview: shows the relationship between a publisher, its software titles, versions, SKUs, licenses and software items, in that order.
NOTES:
In the All Hardware Assets by Location view, parent-child relationships take precedence over location relationships. For instance, if there is an asset with a child that has a location, but the parent does not, then the relationship (of the asset and its child) is shown at the top level of the view, not under a location. If the parent and child have different locations, again the relationship (of the asset and its child) is shown at the top level of the view, not under a location.
If a relationship is missing, such as between the software versions and SKUs, then the next item in the tree is displayed, which in this example would be software items. The following diagram shows software items appearing at the same level as SKU590 because there are no SKUs for those items:
Relationships cannot be created from a tree view. The relationships shown in these views are created from the item, such as from a location, an organization or a hardware asset.
